The Epicyclic ruduction box for the Ferguson TE and TO

THE FERGUSON EPICYCLIC REDUCTION BOX

The Ferguson company have brought a reduction box with planet gears on the market, it is placed between the gaer box and rear end of the tractor. It fits all types FE, TE and TO tractors(fig. 1). This reducton box makes it possibly to choose the existing gaers or reduce with 3:1 to slow down and to have an independently running powertake off shaft.

The planetary wheel scheme fig. 2 and 3 exists from in the middle wheel placed (zonne gear) in which seizes divided 5 wheels (planet gears) to access. These planet gears have been confirmed on planetcarrier, who can turn free as the zonnegear turns. The 5 planet gears run to the outside in a wheel with internal tooth (outer gear). The outer ring wheel also can turn free. The zonnegaer have been linked with secondary shaft of the gaerbox. By means of a link (fig. 3) it is  possible to connect the zonnegaer (the planetary scheme has been then eliminated) or the planetcarrier with pignonshaft is coupled.

There are three states that can occur:

1st: The secondary shaft of the gaerbox is connected with the pignonshaft, where the planetary scheme has been eliminated and transferring comes about in a normal manner.

2e: The secondary shaft is disconnected and planetarrier is coupled with pignonshaft. The zonnegaer which sit permanently on secondary shaft operate the planet gears, which turn around the ring wheel. There happens nothing and the tractor continues not moving. The powertake off shaft which runs below the planetary gaers from the secondary shaft of the gaerbox continue keeps turning however. When the tractor can start to move without any affect on the powertake off shaft, a independently powertake off has been obtained. This has been realised in 3e the case.

3e With the brake band around the ring wheel, the ring wheel can be slowed down or entirely brought to stand still. Because of this the operated planet gears will roll off themselves on the insidetooth of the ring wheel and because of this, the planetcarrier take along that therefore a twisting movement will make; these planetcarrier have been coupled to the pignonshaft and as a result of which tractor comes to move.

If the zonnegaer have 40 cogs and the ring wheel 80 makes cogs and the zonnegaer 1 turn then the planet gears therefore 40 cogs on the zonnewiel will have expired. There the ring wheel now a fixed part has become the planet gears on this also 40 cogs will expire. This is half of the whole number of cogs of the ring wheel. The planet gears move themselves therefore but along the half access of the ring wheel. Now the planeetdrager also a half rotation will make, therefore also the pignonshaft. This is therefore that the secondary shaft and the zonnewiel half, as a result of which a delay of 2:1 has come about. In reality the cog proportions something else lie as a result of which a delay of 3:1 it is obtained. Slowing down the ring wheel occurs hydraulic. The brake link (fig. 2) exist from 2 parts. The innerpart, a brake link with brake sheathing lie around the ring wheel and with one end by means of part that to the house have been linked, other end lies loose. For the internal brake link an external steel brake link of which the rightside (downstairs) are linked with the house and the leftside with crankshaft to a piston, has been introduced.

A hydraulic pump, which is operated by a cam on the powertakeoff, provides the oil for the cylinder. With a brake lever the ... can be pressed against the cam, as a result of which the pump starts to work; the oil is pressed behind the piston, as a result of which the brake link becomes tight and the ring wheel reaches no mowement. Runs busy of oil this way high on, which can the cam almost no longer move the plunjer, then the tuimelaar the other side is moved on. This is possible because the service rod of the brake lever has been bouncing made. Depending on how fast or slow attract of the brake lever the tractor rapidly or slowly will start.
